Editorial Policy
Pages are drafted with AI assistance. An editor checks each step against the knot or rig source we cite, and every number is rerun through our calculators.
Where pages start
A page starts from published sources: knot books, line makers' spec charts, tackle makers' sizing tables and state wildlife agencies. Each page lists the sources it used at the bottom.
How a page is drafted
We draft with AI assistance, then an editor rewrites and checks it. The editor ties each step against the cited source and checks that the drawing shows the same wrap count and the same strand.
Lengths, turn counts and line diameters are rerun through the calculators described on our methodology page. If the calculator and the draft disagree, the calculator wins or the number comes out.
What we leave out
- Knot-strength percentages. Results swing too much with line, wetting and technique.
- Personal fishing stories, and any claim of days on the water.
- Regulation details. We link to the state agency instead.
- "Best" verdicts on products.
Product boxes
Product boxes are placed after the steps and spec cards, never inside them. What goes in a box, and how we're paid, is on the affiliate disclosure page. Being paid doesn't change a step, a size or a count.
